Findings – Respondent 5

Lastly, Respondent 5, I assumed he as someone with the “openness” personality based on her

postings on Facebook. The respondent clearly proved me right from his answer in my surveys. From his/her

posts onFacebook, he/she looks like someone who is very curious and intelligent. Besides that, through his/her

posts, I can see that he/she loves to experience new things and loves to give new, bright ideas.

 

His personality were proven through his/her answers on questionnaires on Survey Monkey that I have

asked him/her to answer. Respondent 2 answers are likely put him in the ”openness to experience” personality.

He had vivid imagination based on his answer YES in the questionaires and it had been goog evidence to prove

my assumption is correct.

 

Moreover, his friend also put him on ”openness” for the last question in the questionaire. Besides, all

answers before also pointed Respondent 2 to be “openness” from his friends point of view.

 

Based on the research findings using Survey Monkey questionnaires to Respondent 2 and to his/her friend, it is

found that there is a significant correlation between his/her language in facebook with his/her true personality

based on the questionnaire using SurveyMonkey online application software. I have found that respondent 2 is

someone who is open to experience.

 

Findings – Respondent 4

As for respondent 4, his/her posts and comments on Facebook make me assume he as a “neurotic” person.

He tends to experience negative emotions, such as anger, anxiety, or depression. Plus he often include sad or

tears  smiley in his posts and comments.

 

The neuroticism of the respondent can be shown through his/her answers on questionnaires on Survey Monkey

that I have asked him/her to answer. Based on the questionnaires, he had answered YES to all the traits that

belong to “neuroticism” personality.

 

From his friend point of view, Respondent 4 is a neurotic person who always get irritated. Plus, respondent 4

also tend to complains.

 

Based on the research findings using Survey Monkey questionnaires to Respondent 5 and to his/her friend, it is

found that there is a significant correlation between his/her language in facebook with his/her true personality

based on the questionnaire using SurveyMonkey online application software. I have found that respondent 5 is a

neurotic person.

 

 

Findings – Respondent 3

I had make assumption for Respondent 3 that he is an extrovert person based on his posts and comments.

Through his/her posts on Facebook, he/she always posts pictures and status about his/her outings and travels

with his/her friend.

 

Respondent 3 feel comfortable around people according to the surveys and he answered NO for I do not talk a l

lot which make my assumption even more accurate and reliable. Furthermore, his friend also labeled him as an

extrovert person and agree with my assumption.

 

Based on the research findings using Survey Monkey questionnaires to Respondent 3 and to his/her friend, it is

found that there is a significant correlation between his/her language in facebook with his/her true personality

based on the questionnaire using SurveyMonkey online application software. I have found that respondent 3 is

someone who is extrovert.

 

 

 

Findings – Respondent 2

Respondent 2 shows the quality of “conscientiousness” in his/her personality based on data collected from his

Facebook account. From Respondent 2 posts and comments, I assumed Respondent 2 tends to show

self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement against measures or outside expectations. Respondent 2

post’s tells us that respondent 2 are well organized person as he post what task that he had perform as well as

he will perform. The big, main, highlighted trait for “conscientiousness” personality is well organized and I think

had it.

 

His personality were proven through his/her answers on questionnaires on Survey Monkey that I have

asked him/her to answer. Respondent 2 answers are likely put him in the “conscientiousness” personality.

 

Moreover, his friend also put him on “conscientiousness” for the last question in the questionaire. Besides, all

answers before also pointed Respondent 2 to be “conscientiousness” from his friends point of view.

 

Based on the research findings using Survey Monkey questionnaires to Respondent 2 and to his/her friend, it is

found that there is a significant correlation between his/her language in facebook with his/her true personality

based on the questionnaire using SurveyMonkey online application software. I have found that respondent 2 is

someone who is conscientious.

 

Findings – Respondent 1

Based on posts and comments that respondent 1 had made on Facebook, I assumed that respondent 1

is ‘agreeableness” person. This is because all of his/her post and comments make he looks like he has

kind-hearted and concern for social harmony. He also tends to be compassionate and cooperative rather

than suspicious and antagonistic towards others. Moreover, he have an optimistic view of human nature

and that’s what make me think he has the traits of “agreeableness”.

 

My assumption on his trait can be proven by the survey that he takes. On the 7th question is the quality 

of “agreeableness” person would answer YES. As expected, respondent answer is YES on that question.

 

Besides that, respondent’s friend also answered almost the same question to describe respondent quality 

again as expected, the results of the questionaires shallow towards her trait of being “agreeableness”.

 

Hence, based on the research findings using Survey Monkey questionnaires to Respondent 1 and to

his/her friend, it is found that there is a significant correlation between his/her language in facebook with

his/her true personality based on the questionnaire using SurveyMonkey online application software. I 

have found that Respondent 1. is a person who is “agreeableness”.

Concordance Exercise

“I Have a Dream” is a speech delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King delivered the speech

in front 200,000 civil right supporters at Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.

Based on his speech, we have been assigned to analyse the speech for a corpus study using the

Antconc.

A.  Word List.

By using “word list” option in the AntConc software we will be able to sort the rank as well frequency of

the words.

B. Concordance

These are the “keywords” that we were given:

1. I have a dream
2. One hundred years
3. We refuse
4. satisfied
5. Now is the time
6. with this faith

8. this will be the day
9. Free at last
10. let freedom to ring

My group were assigned to analysed on the frequencies, manner and the meaning of the phrase “free at 

last“.

i) frequency

By using AntConc we know that the phrase “free at last” have been repeated 3 times at the end of the speech.

ii) Manner

Martin Luther King used anaphora (repeating words at the beginning of neighbouring clauses) as a rhetorical

device in delivering this speech. Repeating the words twice sets the pattern, and further repetition emphasizes

the pattern and increases the rhetorical effect. “free at last” is one of the cited examples of anaphora in modern

rhetoric. Emphasis through repetition makes these phrases more memorable:“I Have A Dream”

 

iii) Meaning

Free can be define as many things. Free of charge, free from slavery as well as free from constraint. In this

context, free are define as slavery and denied of rights. They were free at last because they had been constraint

for a long time, and at last.. they free.

CONCORDANCE program. AntConc can generate KIWIC concordance lines and concordance distribution plots.

So.. I assume dear readers are now know what is AntConc now..:)

CONCORDANCE

What..?? Concordance..?? haha.. simple..~~ Concordance is an alphabetical list of the principal words used in a

book or body of work, with their immediate contexts.

Don not know How to Use It? hehe.. Let me share with you..

STEP 1

Download the SOFTWARE. Here is the link. http://www.antlab.sci.waseda.ac.jp/software/antconc3.2.4w.exe

Next.. You need to open the file antconc3.0.1.exe.

STEP 2.

Click on “file, open.”

STEP 3

I have opened a corpus text file called “i have a dream.txt” by double clicking on the file. The file name appears in the left-hand window. *Corpus, is a long-text file that used in antconc to analyze it.

STEP 4

You can start to analyse the Concordance, Concordance Plot, File View, Clusters, Collocates, Word List, and Keyword List.

STEP 5

After I choose the items,I keyed “enter” on my keyboard to build the concordance , word list or another items. (You can also click on “start.”)

Jika anda tiada anak kecil pun, tolong sebarkan maklumat ini kepada sesiapa sahaja. Kita tidak tahu entah siapa yang dapat diselamatkan dengan berkongsi maklumat ini. Tolong beri sedikit masa dan hantar kepada kawan yang ada anak-anak dan cucu-cucu.

Mahu berkongsi apa yang berlaku hari ini semasa berbelanja di Carrefour JB. Seorang ibu sedang membongkok untuk m……embelek-belek daging , dan apabila berpusing mendapati anak perempuannya berusia 4 tahun telah hilang. Saya berdiri betul-betul bersebelahan dengan si ibu , sementara si ibu tadi terus memanggil-manggil anak perempuannya tapi hampa.

Saya meminta seorang pekerja lelaki Carrefour untuk umumkan kehilangan tersebut melalui sistem pembesar suara. Beliau terus melakukannya apabila diminta berbuat demikian , dan kemudian terus meninggalkan saya untuk membuat panggilan telefon. Panggilan itu untuk memaklumkan supaya semua pintu dan pagar dikunci menggunakan kata kod atau seumpamanya. Jadi mereka telah mengunci semua pintu dengan serta-merta. Hanya 3 minit diperlukan untuk melakukannya selepas diminta.

Mereka menjumpai kanak-kanak perempuan itu 5 minit kemudian di dalam bilik air dalam keadaan masih khayal. Kepala budak perempuan itu sudah separuh dicukur, dan hanya berpakaian dalam. Ada sebuah beg mengandungi baju, pisau cukur, dan rambut palsu terletak di lantai bersebelahannya untuk menukar wajahnya.

Siapa pun yang melakukannya – iaitu mengambil lalu membawa budak perempuan ini ke dalam bilik air , cukur rambut dan tukar pakaiannya – melakukannya kurang daripada 10 minit ! Ini buatkan saya menggigil tak sudah-sudah.

Tolong perhatikan anak-anak anda apabila berada di tempat luas di mana adalah senang untuk kita terpisah dengan me reka seperti di gedung beli-belah. Hanya beberapa minit diperlukan untuk melakukan semuanya. 5 minit lagi maka anak perempuan itu tentu sudah berjaya dibawa keluar!
